Cider and Lager is pasteurized so you shouldn’t have to draw any through if you have a cellarbuoy. Read our article How to use the fob detector/Cellarbuoy. If you haven’t a cellarbuoy there will be froth in the line which you will have to clear. With Cask Ale if you can’t use this as an opportunity to clean the line, flush the line with clean water to remove debris then connect to the new barrel. This is why it is better to have a spare beer engine ready to use.
