I keep getting short bursts of fob when serving a pint of Fosters or cider. I recently had a new keg installation which only has one reducing regulator for all 6 gas pumps whereas my old system had one regulator for each gas pump.Could this be the cause of the problem?
Call out cellar services you do have a gas problem.
Is it necessary to pull beer through the pumps every morning before serving beer?
This has already been discussed Pulling off beer at start of session
On an outside bar what gas could i use for cider? Is it possible to use 30/70?
30/70 gas isn't the right gas for ciders, however most Tech Service companies use it for convenience as it is used for only a few hours and is being sold quickly they get away with it.
when serving cider i get a sudden surge of gas every half pint or so, how can i stop this?
The gas pressure needs to be adjusted you should call Cellar Services
I have a problem with lagers going flat in the glass. I am told that it is due to my use of a glasswash detergent that contains silicone that lines the glass and kills the bubbles. Is this true and can you recommend a good glasswash?
There are a lot of discussions going on around the site on this subject, it is best first to find your exact problem. The forum is the best place to discuss this type of problem. http://bit.ly/h7ZogQ
I am having problems with my carling extra cold, most of the time it is fine but when we get busy it runs flat on about half the pints. I have called celler services and they say it is fine but they are only there when we are quiet or closed, I have replaced the glasses ( renovate every 4 weeks)and the glasswash machine, changed the detergent and rinse aid. I run co2 with one bottle for all the lagers and the others are fine. I have kept a diary of the customers and staff that have the issues and have been able to rule out peanuts and perfumes. it is always fresh clean glasses that i have the problem with. any ideas?

AFTER CHANGING BARREL CIDER,LAGER,CASK ALE HOW MUCH SHOULD I PULL THROUGH BEFORE SERVING?
Cider and Lager is pasteurized so you shouldn't have to draw any through if you have a cellarbuoy. Read our article How to use the fob detector/Cellarbuoy. If you haven't a cellarbuoy there will be froth in the line which you will have to clear. With Cask Ale if you can't use this as an opportunity to clean the line, flush the line with clean water to remove debris then connect to the new barrel. This is why it is better to have a spare beer engine ready to use.
How do I dismantle the nozzle on the fosters pump to clean it?
There is a knurled plastic plastic nut on the bottom of the diffuser on the Fosters' head tap. Unscrew this and check for blockage in the diffuser. Do not touch or adjust the top of the tap.
cellarbuoy keeps emptying
Check the seal on the keg coupler isn't missing or worn
How long does a keg of john smiths last?
If a keg of beer is unbroached, that is opened, then it has a shelf life of 2 months. See the Best Before date on the keg label. You should be able to use it at any time within that period. Once a keg is opened however it should be sold within a week approximately. If a keg is on service for longer than this it will become overcarbonated and become lively and possibly develope poor flavours. As a rule of thumb you should be selling one keg of any product within a week, if not then you should review if it is profitable to sell that product. John Smiths is the same as all keg beers in this respect.
