One of our lagers has minute dark flecks floating in it despite cleaning the lines weekly. What could this be and how can we clear it?
The bits you see floating in your lager are old yeast. If in the past your lines have not been cleaned properly then yeast would have accrued. With an old build of yeast even regular cleaning will not always get rid of it. What you need is a deep clean, sometimes called a blitz clean, named after the chemical used during this process. this needs to be done by your supplier or local contractor. I suggest using the latter as brewers tend to charge quite a lot of money for this service. Have a look at our local contractors list for someone near you.
