Can I sell out of date lager?

You have a duty of care to your customers. Whilst we are not aware of any person being injured in any way by drinking out of date beer there is always the risk that over age beer might contain pathogenic microbes and their by-products, that could be harmful to health.

Of course a licensees job is to serve his products in tip top condition and selling bad beer is not really on is it. Remember that the dates stated are best before dates not a date by which the product becomes deadly to mankind. There is a fair leeway on these dates and as long as it still tastes and smells good it is ok. Co2 is a inert gas which excludes oxygen the requirement of life for the majority of nasties in the world.

So remember quality first, profit second.
