Chemical taste on beer lines can be caused by over-dosing with cleaning fluid over extended periods. The inner coating of the beer pipe is stripped away causing the beer to come in contact with the polypropylene outer tubing. Also leaving pipes in water over extended periods can cause the tubing to become permanently tainted. There are pages on this site that deal with how to possibly remedy these problems.
